About the plant

Guang ji sheng is a mistletoe of southern China, taking hold on the branches of a host tree and drawing water and minerals from it rather than from soil it never touches. Guang refers to Guangdong and Guangxi, where most of it is gathered. It has leathery evergreen leaves, small tubular reddish flowers and sticky berries that birds spread by wiping their beaks on branches. The host tree matters — see the warnings.

Glycerite: Taxillus chinensis dried herb, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

The host tree matters with this herb. Mistletoes take up compounds from whatever tree they grow on, and poisonings have followed material harvested from toxic hosts. Buy only from a supplier who can state the host. Not for use in pregnancy, and take advice first if you are on anticoagulant, blood-pressure or immunosuppressant medicines.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
